An off-the-beaten-track itinerary for those who want to see those sites that tourists usually miss.
We will start from the medieval church of S.Clemens which gives us the possibility to explore the underground tunnels of Ancient Rome and better understand the stratification of the city. We will pass by the ruins of the gladiator school and talk about their life before reaching the remains of a Roman Aqueduct to find out how sofisticated the water system was (comparable to a modern capital!). We will pass by the Circus Maximus and talk about the famous chariot races and Roman festivities just before reaching the Baths built by the Emperor Caracalla to wonder in front of its majestic ruins and understand how important in Ancient Rome was the mental and phisycal regeneration (Mens sana in corpore sano).
DURATION: 3 HOURS
S.Clemens Church underground tickets have to be purchased in advance at the link I will send; Caracalla Baths tickets can be bought on site
Meeting at entrance of S.Clemens Church
HOW TO ARRIVE: Metro Colosseo or Bus 81
